General Spanish Courses

Introduction

The three main blocks of our method - knowledge and skills:
Grammar, Conversation, Pragmatics (= communication).
Pronunciation is practiced in all three.

You will never learn the subjunctive without also learning where, when and how to use it. To achieve this, we have developed our own didactic material: you will acquire the necessary theoretical knowledge (theoretical knowledge), four basic linguistic skills and ten superior.

It is the teaching of skills and our pragmatic focus that distinguishes our school from others. At the end of your course you will have the knowledge and skills to communicate effectively and confidently with Spanish speaking people.

For the group courses, students are placed into the appropriate level, with a maximum of six levels according to the norms of Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

Many students of IEMA take extra private classes to eliminate possible problems, to deepen some aspects of Spanish language or simply to enjoy the opportunity of having one to one classes with one of our teachers. We recommend therefore that you combine the group courses with some private lessons.

The Mini-Group Course

This is our "classic" course, it has a maximum of 8 students but as Avila is not as well-known as larger cities, our groups tend to have an average of only four students.   It is designed for young people, high school and university students and even people who are enjoying their retirement.   It involves 27 lessons of grammar, communication and conversation per week. The hours are normally from 9:00 till 13:30.   Minimum 1 week. Beginners may start only at the beginning of a month - ask for exceptions.

It is recommended that you book some additional private classes (during the afternoons, two or three sessions of 90 min. each.) This will enable you to reinforce and strengthen some aspects of grammar, conversation, pronunciation, culture and society that you have learned.

Furthermore, if you have any problems in your group or if you desire a more rapid progress in order to move to a more advanced level, some private lessons will be very effective. Book some to help you get comfortable with the language.

The "Course for 2"

It is designed for people coming together (couples, etc.) having more less the same knowledge of Spanish and desiring more intensive classes.   There are 27 weekly lessons of grammar, communication and conversation. The hours are normally from 9:00 till 13:30.   Minimum 1 week.

 

Private Lessons

These guarantee the highest quality, most effective teaching and learning. Being the only student in the class, your teacher can adapt the programme exclusively to your needs and interests, providing exactly what you require.

Generally students select 4 or 6 daily lessons which take place in the mornings and in the afternoons. We need to know which aspects of the language you need to study and your reasons for studying in order to provide the most effective lessons. Minimum 2, maximum 8 daily classes.

Another good choice is to combine a mini-group course with a number of private classes (cf. Mini-Group Course “Special”).

 

Mini-Group Course “Special“

More and more students are wishing to take greater advantage of their investment in coming for a Spanish course. This is the reason why we have decided to offer this new course.

This course allows you to have a faster progress and gain a very secure basis of what you are learning in the Mini-group course. This is possible as the Mini-group course "Special" includes 2 weekly sessions of 90 minutes where you are going to learn everything you need in a relaxed way with your private teacher.

If you wish to get more private lessons, choose the Mini-group course and combine it with a maximum of 5 weekly sessions of 90 minutes private lessons. However, in this case you might consider as well an exclusive private course, which might better suit your needs.
